Abstract

Abstract of title to certain lands in Sabine Parish, La., originally included in the La Nana and Las Ormegas grants. The abstract includes a historical sketch of the Neutral Ground and the laws pertaining to that land, and genealogical sketches of the families of Samuel Davenport, William Barr, Luther Smith, Edward Murphy, Harvey Baldwin, Henry Yates, D.M. Pratt, and Thomas Patterson, who were among the early owners of interest in the tracts. Copies of grants and deeds, dated 1798-1898, are also included.

Luther Edward Smith, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, trained and fought as a B25 bomber pilot in the Army Air Force during World War II. His training was extensive and he reached the rank of Sergeant before his B25 crashed over Europe and he was officially declared dead as of September 23, 1944. From the guide to the Luther E.
